Explore My Commitment to Healing and Growth
CBT is based on the idea that how we perceive a situation will impact our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are constantly interacting and influencing one another. How we interpret or think about a situation determines how we feel about it, which then determines how we’ll react.
For example: You have an argument with your partner (situation), you perceive your partner as being unreasonable and have thoughts such as ‘he/she is not being fair’; this makes you feel angry and upset; which will trigger in you physical reaction in your body such as increase in your heartbeat, increase in your breathing and butterflies in your stomach. While as a result of the argument you walk away from your partner and slam the door (behaviour).
